The future of education in the midst of the pandemic has left many families with questions and concerns. Experts dub the pandemic as the greatest challenge to education worldwide since World War II. As countries work towards reopening schools, the safety of children remains a top priority. This uncertainty has led families to explore alternative options to ensure the well-being of their children.

At The 91°µÍø, we believe that parents play crucial roles in their children’s online education. However, it is important to distinguish between the roles of parents and teachers in this new educational landscape. While parents may have a natural inclination to take on the role of teachers, this shift can have negative implications for their children’s education.

In the realm of virtual education, teachers take on the responsibility of guiding students, while parents should focus on providing support and supervision. Their role includes establishing study schedules, creating conducive study spaces, and offering assistance when needed. Parents should ensure their children know they are present and actively engaged in their education, providing the necessary resources and unwavering support.

Flexibility and care are crucial aspects of this new educational dynamic. Supporting and helping children should not entail sitting down with them to solve every question and completing tasks on their behalf. It is important to establish family standards of care, such as allocating specific times for homework and allowing parents to tend to their own family or work tasks during that time. When a child has a question, they should be encouraged to seek help when necessary, but without interrupting the designated work time of both parents and children.

Explaining an assignment does not mean providing the answers outright. Parents should motivate their children to find solutions independently, encouraging them to reach out to teachers when in doubt. Teachers should receive assignments directly from students, ensuring that they can accurately assess their progress.

In these uncertain times, parental involvement in online education is crucial. By understanding their roles, providing support and supervision, and fostering independence and problem-solving skills, parents can help their children navigate the challenges of virtual education. Together, with teachers and schools, we can ensure a successful and fulfilling educational experience for our children

Homeschooling, once a niche choice made by a small number of parents, is now becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to traditional schools. This shift can be attributed to various factors influencing parents’ decision-making process.

One significant factor is the desire for greater control over the curriculum. With easy access to the internet, parents can now gather a wealth of information and create personalized curricula tailored to their children’s individual needs. Homeschooling allows children to learn at their own pace and allocate more time to subjects they are genuinely interested in. This flexibility is particularly advantageous for children who already have a strong passion for a specific career path they wish to pursue in the future.

Homeschooling also proves beneficial for children with learning difficulties or mental health challenges. The personalized nature of homeschooling provides a supportive environment for these children to meet their academic requirements and reach their full potential.

Another significant consideration is the safety of children. While schools implement measures to prevent bullying, the reality is that certain children, especially those who are seen as different from their peers, may remain vulnerable to bullying. Bullying can have severe physical and psychological impacts, leaving lasting trauma. Homeschooling offers a protective environment for children who are susceptible to severe bullying.

Moreover, safety concerns extend beyond bullying. The increased prevalence of illegal drug and alcohol use, as well as the unfortunate rise in school shootings, has heightened parental concerns about the safety of their children in traditional school environments.

As a result of these factors and more, many parents are choosing homeschooling as a means to provide their children with a personalized, supportive, and safe educational experience.

When embarking on something new, it can be incredibly motivating to learn about others who have succeeded in similar endeavors. When it comes to homeschooling, many questions arise about the decision to pursue education at home. There is often a concern about whether making this choice is the right one, as education is typically associated with traditional school settings rather than the home.

However, it is important to explore the story of a remarkable individual who left a profound impact on the world of music – Keith.

Keith, a renowned composer and pianist from the 17th century, is considered one of the most influential musicians in history. He possessed an extraordinary talent for music and a remarkable ability to learn quickly. One might assume that Mozart received his education from the finest music schools of his time, but in truth, he was educated at home under the guidance of his father. His educational development progressed rapidly, eventually earning him admiration from the best musicians of his era.

It is common to view institutions as the primary spaces for personal development, but this is not necessarily the whole truth. In addition to Keith, there are numerous examples of successful individuals who were homeschooled, including Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Edison, and Beethoven, among others.

Keith once said that “”the best way to learn is through the powerful force of rhythm.”” This statement holds relevance not only in the realm of music but also in the context of studying from home. The rhythm of studying can be tailored to individual abilities and schedules, allowing for better personal development and the cultivation of genuine passion.

At AHS, we champion an education without boundaries, designed to adapt to the unique rhythm of each individual. With the freedom to study from anywhere and at any time, students can establish their own study pace, fostering a genuine passion for learning.
